Parklea and Flemington Markets

Parklea- Parklea Markets boast the biggest, most vibrant and colourful market place in the Southern Hemisphere. It is a treasure trove of international food, fashion and flair, displaying the best Australia has to offer all under one roof, with thousands of bargains. There are toys, tools, kitchenware, camping / fishing goods, cosmetics, jewellery, fresh flowers, computer software, souvenirs, car accessories, plants, gardening goods and much, much more.

Flemington- Paddy’s Markets Flemington cater for both locals and tourists, with over 1,000 stalls that sell almost everything from fashion and accessories, sporting goods, fresh fruit and vegetables, pets supplies, clothing, electrical goods to arts, crafts and souvenirs. If you want it, they will most likely have a stall that sells it. Paddy’s are Sydney’s oldest markets; they have been providing value for shoppers before Sydney had a Harbour Bridge.

 

ITINERARY

7.00am Depart Kings Coach Depot, 6 Lingard Street, Merewether. Pick up points areavailable at Charlestown, Belmont, Swansea and Doyalson by arrangement at         the time of your booking.
9.30am Arrive at Paddy’s Market, Flemington for 3 hours of exciting shopping. Food Fashion, Furniture, Plants, Gifts and Gadgets, you will be sure to find some great          bargains. Depart at 12.30pm.
1.00pm Arrive at Parklea Markets, the biggest markets in the Southern Hemisphere! This afternoons shopping will add more fun and hopefully more bargains for you to cross off your Christmas list. If you couldn’t find it a Paddy’s, it’s guaranteed to be         at one of the 100’s of stalls at Parklea.
4.10pm Depart Parklea for return travel to Newcastle.
6.30pm Estimated time of return to King’s Depot, Merewether.

Carols and Christmas Lights at Hunter Valley Gardens

Sunday 6th December 2009

 

Join us for an evening at the HunterValleyGardens and experience a night of fun and excitement under the stars.
This year the Gardens have made several additions to the Christmas Lights Spectacular with enough net lights to cover a football oval and 19km of string lights.
 With a reserved area in the picnic grounds for your picnic dinner we will have a special evening of entertainment and community carol singing, a visit from Santa and Fireworks.
The pre show entertainment will include Keynotes Barbershop Chorus and a fun interactive children’s Christmas show with The Little Scallywagz, and every family has the offer of a free bucket of golf balls to play Aqua Golf.
At the finish of the Carols we will have time to tour through the gardens and gaze at the spectacular light show.
Food and beverages are available to be purchased at the Gardens if you do not wish to pack a picnic basket.

Taronga Zoo

Imagine yourself surrounded by the unique and interesting wildlife of our beautiful planet. Join the Kings on this exciting tour and spend a full fun-filled day with the animals at Taronga Zoo.
Meet the Asian elephants in their spectacular new home, see the birds fly just inches above the crowd in the QBE Free Flight Bird Show and watch as the seals splash, dive and perform at the seal show.
See Snakes, Spiders, Birds, Giraffes, Monkeys, Lions, Tasmanian Devils and much, much more as you weave your way down the hill towards the Sky Safari Cable Car.
Food outlets are available but you may like to take your own lunch and have a picnic.

Tamworth Music Festival

The Telstra Country Music Festival may be a great visitor event, but even more so it’s a magical music experience.  It’s an entertainment spectacular where all types of country music co-exist and where everyone gets a gig – paid or free style.  It’s exciting, electrifying and hugely enjoyable. No festival is complete without a parade, and when all the colour and excitement of Country Music can be brought together in a huge street procession, it becomes an experience that’s hard to beat. See spectacular floats, listen to bands, and enjoy the celebration of Tamworth and Country Music.

Patonga and Bobbin Head Cruise

Located just 24 kilometres north of Sydney, the Hawkesbury River is surrounded by rich bushland and natural attractions. Upon departing Patonga we cruise past Refuge and Yeomans Bay before we come across one of the prettiest spots on the river where the Coal and Candle Creek merges with the Hawkesbury River. Whilst on the river you will be able to see some of the most beautiful scenery this spectacular waterway has to offer.  Our lunch stop is at Bobbin Head where fish and chips will be provided for lunch.
A relaxing way to escape for the day.

Hawkesbury Riverboat Cruise

Friday 19th February 2010

The Hawkesbury River has been the lifeline for the farming communities since the late 1700’s, with the daily needs of the population brought by boat. The Hawkesbury Riverboat Postman is the last of its kind and still provides mail, milk, groceries and the odd assortment of articles to the people along the river.

You will spend the day enjoying the life of the river trade and see the wonderful scenery that only the Hawkesbury River can offer. The skipper will provide you with a knowledgeable commentary about historical features along the way.

 

 

7:30am Depart Kings Depot, 6 Lingard Street, Merewether. Pick-up points are available at Charlestown, Belmont North, Belmont, Swansea and Doyalson by arrangement at the time of your booking.

9:30am The Riverboat Postman departs from Brooklyn Wharf. See the mail, groceries, milk and odd assortment of articles taken to people who have only the river as a lifeline. Morning tea will be served upon boarding the mail boat.

Hawkesbury River Ferries have been operating charter vessels for more than 20 years and the ferry has a fully licensed bar and comfortable undercover seating. Enjoy a smorgasbord lunch while cruising.

1:30pm Rejoin the coach for return travel via the Central Coast – a stop will be made at the Sara Lee Factory Shop to purchase “goodies”.

4:15pm Estimated time of return to King’s Depot.

Guide Dogs Australia

Wednesday 10th March 2010

 

 

Join the Kings to visit this 25 acre, state of the art facility at Glossodia. Here the training of guide dogs for the vision impaired occurs as well as companion dogs for children and adults who are disabled or disadvantaged owing to age, isolation or ill health.

PLEASE NOTE:
The Guide Dog Association does not charge entry for our visit. They also do not receive government funding. Everything achieved is made possible by the generosity of  donors, bequestors and volunteers.  There is the opportunity for passengers to make a donation to this valuable charity during our visit to the venue.

Morning Tea will be served in Windsor Park.

11.00am Commencement of our visit to the Royal Blind Society Guide Dog Training Centre.  We will experience an informative talk, take a walk to visit the kennels and if time permits, visit the training track and experience the workings of this training facility.

It is important to note that it has been designated a smoke free zone. Also no food or drink is available or can be brought to the facility.  It would be advisable to bring a hat sunscreen or umbrella depending on the weather.
                       
1.00pm Following our visit to the guide dogs, we will travel to Richmond for lunch at The Richmond Club. A two course lunch is included in your fare.

This morning we will journey to Sydney Olympic Park at Homebush Bay. After a tour of the area we will stop at Bicentennial Park for our morning tea before our guided tour of ANZ Stadium (formerly Telstra Stadium).

Since it’s opening in 1999, Telstra Stadium has been the scene of a host of sensational events. From the spectacular Olympic opening and closing ceremonies and live concert performances such as The Bee Gees, to the Rugby World Cup and the Sydney Festival.

The new interactive tour will allow you to experience the stadium from the changing rooms to the media centre. Find out how the stadium can be changed from an oval to a rectangular field overnight.

The NSW Hall of Champions is the state’s premier Hall Of Fame and celebrates the outstanding achievements of our athletes. The museum houses an impressive display of action photographs highlighting the feats of over 300 athletes. Displays of medals, certificates, trophies, uniforms, equipment and Olympic memorabilia bring our sporting heritage to life.

Tocal Field Day

Zig Zag Railway

Sunday 2nd May 2010

Constructed between 1866 and 1869, the great Lithgow Zig Zag Railway was one of the major engineering feats of it's time. In 1975 it was revived by a very dedicated group of volunteers to become one of the area's major tourist attractions.

 

ITINERARY

6:30am Depart King's Coach Depot, 6 Lingard Street, Merewether. Pick-up points are available at Charlestown, Belmont North, Belmont, Swansea and Doyalson by arrangement at the time of your booking.

Morning tea and comfort stop in Windsor, tea and coffee is included in your fare. Following morning tea, rejoin the coach and travel onto Richmond passing the RAAF Base as we make our way up the Bells Line of Road through Kurrajong Heights and Bilpin to Clarence Station.

11:00am The historic train will depart for an hour and a half ride on the famous Zig Zag Railway.

12:50pm Join the coach for a short journey into the small industrial city of Lithgow. A lunch stop will be made at the District Workmen's Club (lunch cost not included). Choose from a variety of meals at a reasonable price from the club bistro.

2:30pm Further sightseeing in Lithgow before travelling the Great Western Highway through Mount Victoria, Black Heath to Katoomba and Leura, where we will take in some of the many features of this popular area.

Returning to Newcastle through the many other Blue Mountains towns, the Western areas of Sydney, Parramatta, Castle Hill and the freeway. A suitable stop will be made on the return journey for a quick meal break.

Travel will be directly to Darling Harbour, where we will set you down at the side door of the Sydney Exhibition Centre. With a pre paid VIP entry ticket included in your costing the need to join queues will be eliminated.

There are many facilities available in the Darling Harbour complex for morning tea and lunch; however you may prefer to take a packed lunch with you, as it does get very busy.

For those who wish to leave the exhibition early, you may care to visit nearby Darling Harbour where there are many specialty shops.

In 2009 The King’s Of Newcastle have the privilege of cruising on the John Cadman II for our 25thBoxing Day tour.

10.30am Board the vessel at Darling Harbour. (Morning tea will be served a short time after boarding). The Vessel has both enclosed and open areas so don't forget to take sunscreen and a hat!
 

Lunch is not included in your fare. You may take your own picnic lunch onboard (perhaps some left over 'Christmas Goodies').

Limited BYO alcohol and soft drinks are permitted, however you may find it more convenient to purchase your drinks from the bar on board.

Relax as you spend the morning cruising beautiful Sydney Harbour - watch the yachts in their pre-race preparation - follow the fleet up the Harbour at the sound of the starter’s gun. A professional commentary will be provided by Captain Cook Cruises staff.

As the yachts leave the heads and continue their journey down the coast, we return to Darling Harbour, setting you down at the wharf at approximately 2.45pm.

Upon disembarking you will have time to purchase a late lunch or explore Darling Harbour.

3.45pm Re-join the coach for return travel to Newcastle.
